We have been doing our due diligence to prepare for reopening ever since the Government of Ontario announced we were moving to Stage 2. What we have been trying to ensure is that we could reopen in a way that would maintain the safety of all of our people while, at the same time, providing a meaningful worship experience. What we have discovered is that, if we abide by all of the recommendations, church would be a very different experience than what we anticipated. Everyone would be required to wear masks. There would be no singing. There would be no child-care. Aside from this, the best experts we have listened to are saying that, even with all of those precautions, enclosed places with groups of people are the most conducive for the spreading of the COVID virus.
For those reasons, and because we are concerned about the surge of people visiting our region over the coming holiday weekends, our Leadership Team has decided that we will postpone our re-opening until we feel it is safe to do so.
We love all of you and miss you greatly. We are really looking forward to the day when we can rejoice together again. If you need to see someone, please call the office and we’ll try to arrange a safe, physically distant visit for you. We are sorry if this is inconvenient for you at all, and we know that we might appear to some to be over cautious. This, in no way, is a criticism of those churches that have felt comfortable re-opening. We each must do what we feel is right given the circumstances. Please pray for us as we try to navigate these challenging times. God Bless you.
